I built the ISL Converter because friends wanted a lightweight way to practise letters together, even if only one of us knew the signs.
Capturing the alphabet
- MediaPipe Hands gives me 21 landmarks per frame, which becomes my training vector.
- I used a small CNN so the model can run alongside the webcam feed without lag.
- PyTTSx3 reads letters out loud so parents can follow along while we test.
Where it can go
The next iteration will record short phrases and add a feedback screen so learners can compare their hand pose with the example.
